Dear curious reader,

I'm gonna preface this by saying this is my first full Georgebur fic, and the ship is one I'm fairly new to, so this won't be perfectly written. Furthermore I would like to add this will be my first full highschool AU, so it might be a little odd at parts. Updates will be monthly at best, I'm sorry! Please don't come at me if there isn't one for a while, I'm writing them as I can! Chapters may also be quite short sometimes. But thank you for clicking on this to check it out anyway! Wilbur Soot had never been one of the "popular" kids. He didn't care about that stuff. The music he so adored playing on his acoustic guitar, accompanied by the fellow members of his band Lovejoy, was more than enough to satisfy him. Alone was how he liked it. The smiles of near strangers disturbed him, things were much better when it was just him, his close friends, and family.

George Davidson was always one of the popular kids. He wished he wasn't, but it was something handed to him. He shouldn't complain. After all, there were many people out there that would give anything to be like him, renowned and respected. Popular. But despite this, George envied Soot, the quiet little introvert who got to be himself, without the scrutiny of the entire school.

Wilbur's foster father ran several after-school clubs and intervention groups. One of these was the school's LGBTQIA+ society. As he got a lift home with his father after school, Wilbur stayed for it.

One evening, as Wilbur was helping his father ready the classroom for the next day, he found a singular lost pair of sunglasses.

Going to a public school as an autistic, highly intelligent boy, he clearly notices the differences between his classmates and himself, giving him a lot of insecurity and shame about his own behaviour. As his escape, he goes to a bakery for hours a day to calm his mind, but things change when a new boy who moved is hired. Unexpectedly, and for the first time, George decides to open himself up to the new boy, Clay, while at the same time, Clay slowly starts falling for his new best friend, George. Mostly fluff with some angst every now and then! ⚠️ I wrote this book from my own experience and my own mindset, as someone with diagnosed autism, highly intelligent and ADHD. I DON'T think people with autism are childish or cute, I'm not projecting a stereotype. This is from my own struggles with autism at a public school without special needs.
