Of course, the Dark Lord wasn't any less thoughtful to not have another plan when Harry Potter was so close to destroying him.
Given to his hands, Astoria Greengrass is immured with two choices that can both destroy her: obey him and come as perfidious to her trusted ones in order to stay alive or- lose herself while trying to liberate everyone from his wickedness.
Incarcerated in darkness, she had no one to reach out for, she was compelled to be his servant- to be brought down to the deepest abyss of endless despondency.
