An Unexpected Beginning

When Dani's teacher keeps her after school once again,she is left to slouch in dissapointment, knowing what would happen next. Why did she always have to pick on her? She'd been lucky to even make enough money to pay for music lessons, as well as school supplies. And her father, an alcoholic, was no better. The few times when he was home, he would yell abuse at her, otherwise he was snoring on the couch, or out. Even worse,she had no friends. Music was her only escape.

Meanwhile, her boss decides that it's the final straw. She'd been late three times within the week, and her excuses were getting tired,always claiming her teachers kept her late. He was, after all, paying a non experienced teenager, with little people skills, more than the minimum wage,per hour, and the continual lateness just would not do. No, he had to start searching for new job applicants.
