I'm different than the others. I can control things with my mind, like most of them. But what makes me different is that I'm a SPECIAL. We are all hunted by the government. They wish to experiment on us and kill us. They find us dangerous and think we're a threat to society. We are only dangerous if we choose to be. Not all people are like us though. In fact, only some people are like us. There are normal people that take up most of the world. We call them the NORMALS. We avoid them as much as possible. Some are nice to us, some are not. It doesn't matter though. If they know we exist then they must turn us in. If they don't, they get arrested and sentenced to death for being accused of helping the traitors. We are not traitors though. We just go by every day hoping to survive and not get captured by the SEEKERS-the government. And what/who are we? We are

Like, mutant-level things... Lauren, Luc's dead twin sister, hid something from everyone. Something important that may have lead to her demise and that could lead to ours. Hunters are in town. In the wake of ridding Oakwood of Wanderers, other dangers come creeping in and they're somehow linked to Luc's absent twin. The past returns to haunt the mutants in inconspicuous ways. Riley's life is yet again in jeopardy, but this time she's not alone. Luc and his family are all thrown into the teetering balance. More secrets are uncovered. A trap dawns on them all. Invisible threats start crawling from all directions. Who is the real enemy? TW : behaviours of depression and PTSD are displayed. I don't name them, but one of the character will be struggling a lot. It may not be suitable for everybody. Other adult matters are briefly included, but nothing explicit or intense. Escaping the Monster's Embrace (OLD BEING REWRITTEN )
(Currently being rewritten under a new name The Claimed) Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Six months went by before the government, that was un-tainted by this vile race began to take action into their own hands contacting other countries and militaries causing the great war to happen, sending both my parents off to fight for our rights. Only one of them came back, two months was the longest we lasted before we were overpowered by them. Six years of living in this dysfunctional environment and my hatred had never dwindled. Some people still believed in god and had faith in him, I didn't know what I believed in but I prayed like everyone else that I would get through another day without hearing the soul crushing word 'Mate'. If you doubt your writing skills, read this book. It'll make you feel better, trust me. I wrote this when I was in sixth grade, and now I can't even get through the first chapter without cringing. Okay, here we go: ------------- Before I tell you my story, I have something to tell you. My twin sister, Fern, and I, we are special. Not the kind of special like we are the best at an instrument or we know more facts about something than anyone else. We are so special that our connection is something that only happens every million years. we also inherited something random from our adopted mom that makes us SUPER special. To find another of us would take over a hundred-million years. You have to promise to not tell anyone though. If you do, scientists will come for us by the thousands. We would be put on public display where millions would flock around to get a mere glimpse of us and what makes us special. Scientists and genetic experts on many grounds would put us in cages. They would come and force us to be part of painful, tiring experiments. This already happened once, we don't want it to happen again. If you promise not to tell anyone, I'll tell you.
