(5 Seconds of Summer lyric-inspired story)
17 year old Isabella Flora hated being called "Bella Donna" at school. Literally translated to "Beautiful Lady", Isabella hated what her nickname meant. Her mother was born in Florence, but she fell in love with Isabella's dad, a famous author of cheesy romance novels turned films, and moved to America. Unfortunately, Isabella's dad's famous lifestyle didn't seem to be doing her any favors, as she still had to live in Hoffman Estates, one of the dreaded Chicago suburbs. At school she was expected to always be at her best; star student and captain of the girls swim team. With Ivy League schools reading her applications and swim meets consuming her life; Isabella didn't have time for trouble.
Nicholas "Nick" Jacotey was the 17 year old son of a Greek "goddess" who had moved to Paris and fallen in love with his "charming" businessman father. Nick's mother, similar to Isabella's dad, was the writer of romance novels. His newly divorced mother decided to move them to middle of nowhere, USA, to start over and live close to her best friend, who happened to be Isabella's mom. Although English wasn't his first language, Nick had managed to gain a reputation before he even entered Jackson High.
Isabella was the sun, bright and cheerful; Nick was the moon, dark and mysterious. But like the ying yan sign, opposites can attract to create a perfect balance, and maybe sometimes bad guys are good guys that haven't been caught.
Ella is falling apart trying to live a "perfect" high school life. Then she meets Ren, who can see past her scars. Suddenly perfection isn't her only option.
