one day a beautiful teenage girl was walking in her district without a problem in mind. She kept thinking life would turn out great until she ran into an old friend.
"Casey, you shouldn't be here!! If the peacekeeper's find you your going to be arrested!" said the only person Casey trusted, Lyra. She's right Casey shouldn't be there because this was capital property.
"Don't worry they won't. Today isn't any special day, so they won't come." Casey said while turning to Lyra.
"Casey, its reaping day!! We should be at our homes, but instead I'm here waiting for you! And if we get caught we could be executed!!" Lyra shouted. Casey then realized it was reaping day, a day where they pick a tribute to go fight in the hunger games until there was one tribute left to be crowned victor. This was the day every teenager from the ages 12-18 were scared if they were going to be reaped.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was today."Casey gives Lyra the biggest hug she can ever give, then turns around

And in District Four, which often tends to produce Career tributes, its residents could only hope that this year's pair would fall under that description. On Reaping day, a 14-year-old boy's name is called. A name often whispered down the hallways of the local high school, giggled at, fawned over. It was impossible. Him, of all people? It couldn't be, could it? Yet it was. At age 14, Finnick Odair was called forth to be a tribute in the 65th annual Hunger Games. Many residents stood there in doubt, wondering how a boy so young could possibly bring home the victor's crown. There had never been a victor so young, after all. The 136th Hunger Games
When Kira Blackwood's name is reaped, she knows she's screwed. However, as she navigates through the opulent world of the Capitol, and then the arena itself, Kira starts to realize that maybe, just maybe, it's not the dead she should pity, but the Victor. After all, no one ever really wins the Hunger Games. Survives, sure. But wins? Never. ~~+~~ Please Note: This is set in a world where the 2nd Rebellion failed. All usurpers were executed (except those pesky star-crossed lovers, who knows where they ran off to), District 13 was destroyed for good (but District 12 was rebuilt, on the basis that the Capitol realized that it actually really needed coal), and the Hunger Games were reinstated.
