Many things surprised Keefe about the Forbidden Cities; the food, buildings, how loud it was, how people could breathe with the terrible air quality, but what shocked him the most was the weather. Sure, the Lost Cities got its fair share of rain and storms, but it really got to him when he heard about human seasons. An elf would have to like making things pretty difficult for themselves if they choose to live where they could get snowed in or burnt to a crisp whenever the universe felt like it. Even when that was the case, estates in riskier places had some protection on their side to stop them from getting flooded or flattened. Sophie said that she barely noticed the difference, but it still messed with Keefe's head whenever the topic came up. At least that's what he told himself as he stared out the window while snowflakes whipped against the clear panes instead of finishing his empathy homework.
