Twigs quietly snapped as I moved my heavy feet towards the pond where the singing was coming from.
Heart beating with excitement I drew closer until I could see through the branches to the figure in the water. My gods was the painful walk through the the thorns were worth it. In the middle of the water was the back of a naked girl washing herself. She had beautiful long black locks that swept the water's surface where it rested at her waist. Her hair was so dark it contrasted sharply with her milky white skin. 
Everything in me wanted to go to her but I knew a strong Viking warrior covered in blood might frighten her away. For now I'll enjoy my view and wait for the chance to see the young maidens face. Once I know what she looks like then I can search for her face within in the village not far from here.
A cruel smile of a predator spread across my face as I anticipated the hunt for my prey later, one that would not end until I got what I wanted.
