Vanessa Walker had always been reckless and impulsive; although she had all the reason to be when strangers in black robes hit the gavel on the block and made all her decisions formally. But when a sincere-looking man shows up at her door, Khyber has no idea what she's in for. She has seen that kind before: the type in a suit who show up at group homes with a briefcase claiming they found the 'perfect foster family', only to pull you out two weeks later.
Later discovering the tragic news of both of her sisters' deaths, Walker discovers she is the legal guardian of their kids and is forced to grow up quickly.
