"Will you be my partner?" I mutter, preparing for the worst.
The mystery girl stares at me, almost in a daze.
I stare back, almost regretting my idea. I don't want to rope this girl into my drama! I just don't want to be stuck with Jamie or Alex, who have been giving me the silent treatment all afternoon.
A huge smile spreads across the girl's face and she holds out her hand. Sighing in relief, I take it, and she shakes it vigorously.
"My name's Melody! Melody Baker. It's lovely to meet you!"
