The rumor goes back to the founding family of Troll City, the Wolfes, who arrived in Troll City in the late 1880s after fleeing from Pittsburgh when their steel mill went under. They moved into the Wolfe mansion, once owned by another family cursed to live as werewolves that had been driven out of town long before them.
