I span around and came face-to-face with the queen bee herself: Gretchen Hale. Discreetly swallowing a lot of saliva that had gathered in my mouth (I'm pretty sure the majority of my pride dissipated along with it as well), I bit back one of my usual retorts. There was no Tate anymore, only Melody Jefferson - part time cheerleader, part time airhead, part time antagonist, part time preppy spirit leader and full time popular jerk.

The Method Act. An annual televised event that pits the greatest actors around the world against one another in a heated competition with the prize of a large sum of money and a scholarship to the most prestigious arts academy on the earth. The only catch: contestants must give over their ordinary lives in trade of a persona for however long it takes to outlast everyone else. Easy, right?

All Tate Matherson has ever wanted is act and, with her mother terminally ill, she feels that The Method Act is the only option that will enable her to pursue her dream and pay for her mother's medication. But will it be worth sacrificing all that she is?
