It's hard to know where to turn in uncertain times and unfamiliar places. It's even harder to do that when you're trusted by no one.

Following the ravages of a particularly awful leaf-bare, and the necessity of dealing with the scars of last greenleaf, the warrior Clans by the lake have been picking up the pieces of their shattered lives. Acornstar and Redwhisker, convinced that their adventures are now over, are put on edge by an old foe rising under a new flag.

They are even more surprised by yet another companion of oddity joining them, adding to the ever-growing new minority of the Clans. Unfortunately this companion joins right into a sticky situation, and the eccentric crew must work to free him from the web of suspicion and treason before it consumes them all.
