Tale of Two Twins (A The Elementalists Fanfic)

19-year old Eli Russell felt lost. Unhappy, dissolutioned with his old college life, lonely, and a chronic underachiever, he felt that he didn't have a place anywhere he went. But when he was dragged through the pond by a shadowy monster, he gained a new purpose. Several, in fact.
The first order of business was to find his way home, as he 'd arrived in an eccentric school in the middle of god-knows-where that didn't seem to follow the conventional rules of reality.
The second... was finding out who he really was. Shocking revelations seemed to follow him everywhere, despite being some kind of no-one boy from Nowhere, Colorado.
Eventually, though, the strange world he was thrown into became his home. New friends and loved ones inspired him to dig deeper to reveal his history, the mysterious history of long-lost family, and the reasons why he was adopted in the first place.

Plus, the magic wasn't so bad, was it? He could get used to this.

This is an AU/rewrite fic for The Elementalists. Much of its lore has been changed, expanded upon, or replaced as well as its events and story progression being shuffled around to suit my tastes. While some changes are what I consider "fixes" to problems that I found in the original book, for the most part they are NOT all "for the better." Most, in fact, are simply concepts that I wanted to play with or stuff that I made up just because it sounded cool or fun - such as tweaking backstories and personalities. Additionally, the visual designs of the characters may get a re-do every now and then as well. Some changes may not be faithful to the original material. I'm very lazy and don't want to have to watch playthroughs of the book over and over to get every single detail right.
