"Do you trust me, Chen?" "Not a chance, Miller-Jones" "Well, that makes this ten times more fun" She grabs my hand to pull me off of the concrete ledge we're sitting on, and suddenly we break into a full sprint. I see the sand in the distance and know she has full intention of taking me into the water with her. I'm scared, so incredibly scared, but I know deep down that she's going to keep me safe. -------- Aurora Lucia Jean Chen, top student in the University of Florida culinary arts program is a lot of things. determined, headstrong, all-or-nothing, a tad overambitious, yes. But she is not a risktaker. so when she learns that she has to do a project with Bailey Christine Miller-Jones, an overly spunky and go-with-the-flow journalism and media arts student, she has to prepare herself to deal with the enemy, push through the rumors, fight her feelings, and all other cliches of romance. started: 12/18/23 finished: tbd author's note: I know some of those programs don't really exist at the University of Florida, but this story taking place at a larger, SEC school will have relevance later on. Also, there will be a playlist for both major characters, and I'll post the spotify links soon enough. Thank you for reading!

~"You don't- you don't need me." I stared in shock. This was the first shred of emotion he'd shown since he started avoiding me, and I had no idea how to respond. What was I supposed to say to something like that? So I let myself be honest, and I told him exactly how I felt. "But I do." I almost choked on my words. "I do need you. I can't talk to anybody else. I can't eat. I can't sleep. And I know you know what that's like."~ Liliana is now an orphan. Just 17 years old, she lost her parents in a boating accident and now she must live with her best friend, her best friend's parents and her best friend's brother, Joseph. She struggles through her grief as well as dealing with the mysterious but obnoxious Joseph, and it soon comes to light that he isn't the only one around her keeping secrets. Living under the same roof, tensions arise, and Liliana begins to discover that a perfect family may not be so perfect after all."
