Authorities in India's western Goa state introduced a statue of Portuguese and Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo to inspire youth and take football to a higher level in the state.

Nearby official, Michael Lobo who introduced the statue in a recreation area in state capital Panaji on Tuesday December 28 said the statue will rouse players to excel in football.

With over 800 goals, 36-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo is broadly viewed as one of the best football players ever.
