I found him, sitting in between two concrete walls. His head touching his knees and slightly rocking his body. The walls bleed lead, telling us he lied about escaping.
I look up at the ceiling to see vines growing out of the roof. I quickly walk over to him and wipe his dark, sweaty hair out of his eyes. He shakes his head no and rocks his body faster until I feel like everything around me is in slow motion.
"No..." he whispers in a child-like voice.
"it's alright, I'm here,"
"No," he says louder. He stops rocking his body and looks up with his eyebrows threaded together. "No!" He demands as if wanting something. Then all at once, my heart stops with a feeling of pain on my left side, and the taste of sand in my mouth. My chipped fingers shake as my head falls to the ground praying that I live to see the day we make it out of the test
 were locked in.
I beg that one day we make it.
