In Defense Against the Dark Arts, a mysterious object is presented with one strict rule: do not touch it. Whoever uncovers its secret wins. Hermione Granger intends to solve it the right way. Draco Malfoy intends to solve it first. Forced to work together, they circle each other with more suspicion than trust until curiosity wins and one reckless choice changes everything.
In an instant, the classroom is gone and they wake in the year 1800, a world shaped by status, control, and rigid expectations. Draco adapts with ease, his name opening doors and commanding respect. Hermione has no such advantage, so she creates one, slipping into a role that places her at his side. The lie works, but it binds them closer than either planned.
Because in this society, a woman like her is not meant to remain unattached. She is expected to marry, and quickly. As pressure builds and questions grow sharper, they are forced into a careful performance where every glance and every word matters. It is supposed to be strategy, nothing more. But somewhere in the tension, something begins to shift, subtle enough to ignore, dangerous enough not to.
