Lilith Williams. She's not actually your average girl... she gets fairly good grades but that's mostly due to a huge amount of gaslighting and crocodile tears. Grayson Powell. Very much your average bastard bad boy. He just doesn't do the drinking. Or the sex. Or the friends. When Lilith is moved to a new state with her family and they're paired together for a project, their friendship groups collide and suddenly they realise maybe, they might be a lot more similar than they think. But what will happen when they realise the severity of the situation that these similarities have put them in?

Sophie Smith is a foster girl who's bounced around from state to state, "looking for her forever family," but Sophie's not stupid. She knows she doesn't have one. Her newest family, the Evanses, seem nice, but Sophie knows they don't really want her. After all, who would want a seventeen-year-old burden? Dylan Waters has nonexistent parents, so his best friend's parents, and next door neighbors, look after him. He's still in high school, but he's got a daughter, Aurora Jane Waters. Her mom barely let Dylan keep her. With the Evanses' help, Dylan is learning how to become a dad, trying to finish high school, and dealing with the fact that he maybe-kinda-sorta likes the Evans' new foster daughter. The thing with human beings is that they make mistakes. Sophie knows that. Dylan knows that. But mistakes are what can make life a true rollercoaster ride. They can make life...unpredictable?
