The Reaper

She never thought this would happen to her; it never crossed her mind that this... this curse would be hers to take. How could she have imagined that her life would be cut short so soon..? At the young age of 18...

Breathing through her mouth as she tried to calm the terror that was slowly building up, she grasped the long thick handle that held up the most dangerous blade that she had ever laid eyes upon.

'I cannot possibly...' She started, but she was interrupted by a deep hoarse laugh.

'This was decided long before you were born, girl. What makes you think that your petty little feelings will change this outcome?'

It was the harsh reality that made her eyes sting. 'Why me..?' She whispered, confused and scared by the thought of what she was being forced to take. She was afraid of what she was going to become and of the things that she would do. What did this even mean to someone as young as her? Should she be happy for an everlasting life? Or should she be angry and sad that she could no longer be the normal human girl that she wished to very much be?

'It does not matter of what you had planned in life, child.' The voice softened as much as it could. It came from all around her, because it simply did not belong to the world... Just as she soon will no longer belong.

'Who am I?' She questioned herself, pitifully.

'You are Violet Rosemary, my beloved descendant; And the one that will take this large burden from me and give me the peace that I have sought for so long.' The voice was fading away with every word spoken to her. ‘You are, my child, the inheritor of my will. You are and will forever be in your timeline... The Reaper.’

It was the summer of 1864, when Violet Rosemary passed away in her bed at exactly 11 o’clock.
