When Mandy loses her job, she thinks she’s hit rock bottom – until her plane is swallowed by a strange storm that sends her and everyone else on board 10,000 years into the future. At first, she thinks the scary world is nothing more than a bad dream. The war-torn Earth is unrecognizable. Black fog blocks the sun, and the oceans are dry. Even worse: the planet is inhabited by half-human, half-alien creatures dying from a mysterious disease. Horrified at the thought of spending her life here, she clings to the knowledge that there’s one man who can open the star gate to send her home. As the Naki prince who controls the star gate, Akkadi gets first choice of any human female that makes her way through the star gate. Those that had the means took to the oceans - harvesting the sea, safe from predators. With the promise that they would return. Decades have passed without hope. Sam - a woman born out of chaos and a borderline sociopath - comes to act as a guide for others in search of a ship which they believe contains large stockpiles of seeds. Copper-9, an exoplanet with minerals to mine and a cheap, easy-to-make work force to mine them: Worker Drones. With Worker Drones comes Disassembly Drones, their "natural" predators. Sent from beyond to slaughter all of the cowardly workers who hide in bunkers for fear of death. Except Mallory. The bastard only stays inside to sleep all day in a nice warm bed and gives lip to anyone that wakes him up. So when a surprisingly short Murder Drone waltzes right into the bunker, panic ensues, and panic makes noise, and noise tends to wake people up. == Story of a sleepy eepy guy who wishes to his sleep paralysis demon that people would leave him the [BEEP] alone. But where's a good story where everything goes the way someone wants? Got the idea from some art randomly and thought, " Ay, that's pretty good."

Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on.
