Within the southeastern coast of America lives two clans, Thistleclan and Bayclan, living just close enough to a bustling twolegplace and bordering themselves between an empty shoreline and a thick forest. For generations, these two clans lived within the confines of themselves, generally unbothered aside from an outbreak over 20 years before of an illness known as "fogcough" brought on by a spirit harboring itself within the clans under the disguise of a loner. This spirit, after being conquered by Starclan themselves, brought back by a warrior named Owlsnap after the being temporarily severed their connection with them, had been kept prisoner within the realm for generations afterwards, heavily guarded at all times. This was a legend passed on by the clans for years, and soon faded into obscurity as a myth.
Now, years later, the spirit's been released. Two young cats, Gorgecreek of Bayclan and Nettlehaze of Thistleclan, and a single Starclan cat named Snakepaw are forced to face the destruction that this being may cause, and have set themselves to try and stop it at all costs.
What can be scarier than needing to face something that you couldn't even begin to understand?

A sickness - like a mere case of the chills or a minor whitecough in a patient - is often something a medicine cat can easily fix, with some leafy catmint or perhaps a pawful of feverfew. It is vanquished effortlessly, and the illness is gone. It does not come back unless someone receives it again. But when the Clans have contracted a terrible sickness, StarClan has not answered for moons, and they are losing numbers quickly, nobody knows what to do. The medicine cats have done all they can for their Clanmates, however, nothing has worked. No longer outside the elder's den lay a lazy, gray-muzzled cat. The nursery, ever so faintly smelling of milk, only contains memories of what used to happen in the usually cheery den. The warrior's den only have three or four inhabitants, each of which thinks grimly of the day that the sickness could come upon them. The apprentice's den, in some Clans, has one cat who comes to sleep in it each night, cold and alone. Others are empty, filled with grief for lost futures. Leaf-fall has tumbled upon the Clans.
