Shortly after Brendan sees his new house for the first time, he encounters May, who both decide to go help out Prof. Birch with his research. After receiving their starter Pokemon, as well as their Pokedex, they proceed to go adventure together into what would become the greatest challenge of their lives.

This story is basically a "what if" scenario in which Brendan stays with May when he first meets her rather than splitting from her.
