When tragedy strikes, even the sharpest of minds sometimes can't make sense of it. Faced with hard evidence, horrible truths and a whole lot of grief, Lieutenant Ara Rainn takes the path of most resistance when she risks her Starfleet career, and her life, to search for her best friend, Data. The reports say he was killed in action--saving his captain as a last ode to his everlasting humanity. But Ara has a feeling something is off...So she gathers a makeshift crew and steals a ship to travel where no rebels have gone before.
