I turned to Kai again and began to ask questions "Why did you come alone? Do people not really like you?" was my first one. Kai choked on his wine and from the coughing coming from behind me so did Sloane. 
            "I have plenty of friends. I just felt coming alone would be better." Kai responded coolly. "Why did you not bring any friends, Princess, or are you just not liked and have to push your own self-value issues on to others?" He asked me, coming back just as snide in his remark. I laughed. I could not hold it in. I laughed in front of my mother and Sloane.

            "We're going to find a way around it." He said as if he was stating a fact. I looked up at him to see tears in his eyes. "I promise." He said. Looking down at me, a tear fell down his face and my hand went up to wipe it away. I pulled him into another hug and I did not want to let go, and we stood there for a long time. We both knew that the promise would probably not be kept, but it made us feel better in that moment to think that the inevitable was avoidable.

I take a deep breath I didn't know I was holding at the driver's side door swings open and a very pissed off Axel steps out. "Thank god," I mumble and place my hands on my knees to catch my breath. "Blaze?" He says and I hate it. I hate how he says my name as if it's his. Like he knows it's the only thing I want to hear, him calling out to me, looking at me, focused to me. It's the first time in my life I wanted someone's attention so badly I didn't care how I got it. And that was too dangerous for me to hold onto. "Are you insane or some shit? I could have killed you!" He says and starts to walk towards me. I take a big breath and step back away from him, "s-stop! Axel," I stutter still panting. It's then he notices the blood on my hands and shirt. "Is that blood?" He asks staring at my shirt and I take another step back. "Stop, stay b-back," I try to say confidently but I can't even breath right. Realizing he won't listen I start to turn around planning to make a break for it. "Don't run from me Blaze it won't go well," he growls reading my thoughts causing me to freeze in my spot. "Do not ever think you can get away from me."

She catches the new instructor's curiosity, and her identity is threatened. He claims to be her mate, but she knows that her kind don't have a mate and desperately tries to avoid him. If he stumbles upon her true identity, she is screwed. "What are you doing?!" growls his highness, ripping the knife from my hands. It tingles as his fingers close around my wrist. Fresh blood flows from the wound, turning his hands red. Deep throaty sounds, rumbling in his chest. "You hurt yourself," he says softly, pain evident in his voice. I look up and frown. "It's just a small cut," I reply, annoyed. None of the other cadets get this kind of attention. Besides, we have to learn this to pass the exam. "Shhh, it's going to be okay," he says, pressing me close. My whole side explodes with sparks. It tickles me. "You have to stop hurt yourself. Why are you even here? How am I going to protect you here?" he asks angrily. "I don't need your protection!" I shout, pushing him away. I get an angry growl back. Quickly I grab another knife and throws it over my shoulder, hitting bulls' eye. He glares at me, and the room has gone completely silent. That's when I discover that I may have gone too far with the insanely possessive highness, even though I'm grateful for the extra lessons he gives me. Then suddenly everyone hurries out of the training area. Leaving me alone with the growling, red eyed alpha. "Anyone else?" they stare at me blankly. "Didn't think so." When fuck boy tries to get up, I take my foot and slam him back down. Looking back at the boys, I say, "Later boys."
