Alexander Jeffery: High school senior, on the high school football team as quarterback, has many friends, immensely popular throughout the school, if not the most popular kid in high school; dating cheerleader Haley Roys, lives with a loving family in a large house in the city of Los Angeles, California.
Ellis Jeffery: High school senior from New York, a silent musician that plays piano and sings very well, but nobody recognizes his talent hardly; has no friends, is known as the social outcast throughout the school, all alone while struggling with his mental illnesses like social anxiety, major depressive disorder, and ADHD on the daily; lives with his abusive, alcoholic father in a very small apartment in the city of Los Angeles, California.
Going into their senior year, Alex has it all: a pretty girlfriend who is just as popular as him, lots of friends from Hamsworth High School, and has just been named captain of the varsity football team. Everybody pretty much knows who Alex is, and he likes it like that. His parents also have the money to afford a somewhat lavish lifestyle in the city of LA, and Alex couldn't imagine his life any other way.....that is until he runs into Ellis during the summer before senior year.
At first, Alex thinks nothing of Ellis, believing the rumors that Ellis is a creep, a lowlife, an outcast up to no good. Ellis knows that there are rumors about him going around the students of Hamsworth High, but wants nothing to do with people, and doesn't care.
But as some time goes by, Alex feels a deep turmoil growing on the inside. If he supposedly has EVERYTHING and is living the best life, then why does the high school outcast intrigue him, and why does he so desperately want to get close to him.....?
Alex and Cal have been best friends since what feels like forever.
They've been through it all together; first day of school, first kisses, and Alex's parents abandoning him. Through thick and thin, Alex and Cal have been there for each other, the best of friends.
Until Cal realizes that maybe he likes Alex as more than a friend and, instead of talking about it like a normal person, shoves those feelings somewhere deep down inside of him. Eventually Alex notices something off about Cal and confronts him. Will this confrontation be the end of their relationship? Or will it bring about something new and wonderful?
