The Madrigal's are a famed family that reside within Encanto. They were given a gift, a miracle, and that miracle is passed down through many generations. Their purpose is to serve, help, and protect the citizens of their village. Abuela Alma is the matriarch of the household. Her husband, Abuelo Pedro, sacrificed himself to give her the miracle. After their marriages, both women were pregnant soon. And Abuela was delighted to have more magical blessings on the way. Delores and Isabela were born first. The very first grandchildren to the Madrigal family. But between their birth and when they received their powers, Bruno's reputation continued to deteriorate. As did his relationship with his mother and sisters. He was becoming desperate. People in the town feared him. All he wanted was love. Then Bruno meets Valentina. They hit it off. Bruno is desperate.
