The woods never truly recovered from the war. It was orange in the autumn, and winter shriveled up the leaves, but when spring came, no new flowers bloomed. Everything was bleak. Then, the Nex came. They demanded that the people of the forest should bow to them.
The order of the witches came to fight for the forest, but in the end, they couldn't win.
Taiga, the last witch, watched her own mother die. With hatred for the Nex in her veins, she suspects nothing of what came next.
Callum, the prince of the Nex, turns out to be different than his people. Instead of destroying life, he gave it.
