Kapono's eyes weren't on the water- they were on Morgan. Her profile, the slight upturn of her nose, the ridge of her cheekbones, her lips, her freckles. A strand of hair had come loose from her bun, and he had the sudden urge to reach forward and brush it back behind her ear.
He didn't.
Instead, he forced himself to look away, dry swallowing against the lump in the back of his throat, his fingernails digging into his palms as he listened to Morgan continue to list off several of the more dangerous beaches she had read about and would like to visit.
