I am a Catalyst.

The Spark, the lore calls me.

The problem with being a Spark is two-fold.

Monsters are drawn to me. And I've known so many of them that I find myself unable to be intrigued by any normal, human, male.

I'm only drawn to those dangerous breeds now, like a moth to flame, how much can I really resist their primal aggression?

You'd think that with as long as I've been the Spark, I'd have learned how to recognize each creature. But there are so many, I don't know where to begin.

Every male creature lusts for me. And I for some of them. One in particular.
The worst among them.

The trick I face now is in trying not to attract every unholy thing I come across. And when I do, in identifying which just want to possess me, and which might actually kill me. Or lock me away forever.

So far, I'm clearly failing.

On both accounts.

This is Book 2 of the 'Destined Luna Series' (You can read as a stand alone. However it will be more enjoyable after reading: Book 1 - The Rainbow Wolf And Her Alpha.) I am Jaycee Black, future Alpha of the Moonlight pack, and a hybrid thanks to my mother being half witch. The worlds most powerful witch at that - but that's a story for another day! When your Mother and Father are the most powerful Alpha and Luna in all the land, that comes with a sea full of enemy's and danger. As their daughter, I am believed to be someone special and a huge target for a lot of bad people. The world I live in has an endless supply of humans, blood suckers and witches down every turn, hanging for a taste of my power. Even if I don't know what that is yet. Never being able to fit in, thanks to the ability I was born with hasn't helped. I am able to see and feel others emotions. Know when they are lying isn't something people appreciate. Don't even get me started on not getting my wolf when I came of age. How am I meant to be stronger or even defend myself if I don't have a wolf? Might as well fight me blindfolded with my arms tied behind my back. A promise of revenge made long before my birth, was what put me on this torturous path. I am doing my best to survive in a world full of magic, hate and anger where everyone either wants me dead or used to breed the next generation of hybrid warriors. After being kidnapped my life only gets worse. Problem is, the evil witch council have also wiped my memory. The only guarantee in my life right now, is the promise of daily torture. I dream of a day I can find my mate and prey that the magic hidden deep within me, awakens. I don't know how I'm expected to survive, but I know one thing... I am not going down without a fight.

Today I want to die. Not because of anything in particular or specific, but just because the utter thought of ceasing to exist sounds devastatingly euphoric. To make the noise stop. To stop this stabbing pain in the lowest pit of my stomach that's causing a burning sensation that crawls all over my skin, making me want to peel it off. To stop the guilt that festers every time I take a breath-- an oxygen thief. To stop the constant urge to detonate over anything and everything that dares to love me because in all-- I could never deserve such an honor. Today I want to die. For the longest time, I thought I was just unlucky. That sometimes life doesn't work out for everyone, and for people like me; things just never get better. I had settled into the life of being unlucky, reveled in it, and found comfort in knowing that no matter what; I would just be categorically unlucky. That was until I realized luck had nothing to do with it. It's karma. It's the idea of what goes around comes around, and what goes up must come down. Didn't some philosopher speak to that once? However, it isn't my karma. Well it wasn't at first-- somewhere down the line after all my wrongdoing I'm sure it has switched to mine. But I am the poor soul stuck with my father's karmic retaliation. The karma that he deserves has been thrown against me as some sort of sick cosmic joke-- I'm sure he'd actually celebrate and feast on the fact that once again, he still gets to hurt me even from his grave. Too bad I killed him before he had the chance to see. *Book One in the Karma Duet. Book Two is now in progress, titled: The Karma Study*

BOOK ONE: Having enough courage to run through the woods and away from the people who convinced me they were saving me was not how I believed I'd spend my day. Yet, there I went escaping from the only place I knew existed in the world. Being held captive was too much for me, especially when these people wouldn't tell me who they were or even who I was. The first moment in my life I recall very clearly. I awoke in a dark room, with recollection of everything that happened in the world except for one thing. I had no memory of myself existing, I didn't know where I was or why these men kept me from leaving. Days after I first woke I asked plenty of questions, and yet none of them were answered. The only thing I learned was that I was not allowed outside because the woods heald the most powerful magic on the planet, the most dangerous magic. It was more than just bad men and curiosity about the forest that got me to leave, it was a pull towards something; towards magic. Once I was in the forest turning back was never an option, so I put it in my head that I'd keep walking until I found a civilization or a nice paved road that would lead to safety. But that never happened because the forest has a force living through it. Believing that the forest held something strange was the easy part but experiencing it myself was something totally different. I didn't expect anything normal but I didn't expect to be completly engulfed into the forest. I was led by an unknown presence that made me truly believe it was a living being, and in fact it is. I was innocent then, but now I know that anything can be hidden under a small platform in the woods with a secret bigger than the world itself. I was given life that day, until it all ended months later; the day I took my last breath.

I glared up at him my eyes narrowed, "Excuse me?" I was beyond livid by the words that just came out of his mouth. My glare didn't falter when Parker towered over me, clenching his jaw while trapping me against his desk. "You heard me." Parker's voice was low and intimidating that it made me feel so small. But I wasn't going to let him get to me. Standing up taller, I snapped, "I will not be your personal toy, available for you to do just as you please! I do not want to be held captive against my will, and not even have a say in anything. To be honest, I don't even want a mate." "You will do everything and anything I say, do you hear me?" Parker growled grabbing my chin and forcing me to look at him. Without even thinking I said the first thing that came to my head but meant every word. "I, Jasmine Davis, reject you Alpha Parker Mason, as my mate." * Jasmine Davis is the daughter of the Beta of the Moonlit Waters Pack. She's sarcastic and having a mate is that last thing on her mind. Jasmine gets the attention of most of the male population in her pack but she ignores them. What happens when Jasmine's mate happens to be the ruthless Alpha of the neighboring pack, the Lunar Shadow Pack. What happens when she doesn't want a mate especially, Alpha Parker? * [Highest rank: #1] [WARNING] - mild language and some steamy scenes* [Unedited] Read at your own risk!
