Stone slabs were raised like alters from the floor, and on each lay a creature - some like the Nahosai Shadow had told him about, and others he had never seen before. Each lay unmoving - twelve in total - but it was the strange humming of dark magic that horrified him the most. The room reeked of iron so strongly he could no longer smell the prisoners.
"We shouldn't be here," He whispered to Shadow, who stood still as marble next to him. "We need to go. Now."
But it was too late.
One of the creatures he'd presumed dead blinked and lifted its massive, shaggy head.
"Run," Shadow breathed. Seth was already moving.
