John Marston, born to an illiterate scottish immigrant and a prostitute. John's mother passed during John's birth. John's father, became a drunk and abusive. The younger of those in the Van Der Linde gang. John, suffers from intense PTSD, beginning as just a child in an orphanage. John was rescued by Dutch Van Der Linde and Hosea Matthews, who taught him how to read, write, hunt and gather.

Arthur Morgan, born to Beatrice and Lyle Morgan. His mother had passed, while his father, Lyle was a petty criminal and outlaw, who became a drunk after his wife had passed. Arthur in 1877, became a part of the Van Der Linde gang, and was taught how to read, write, hunt, and gather. Arthur is suffering from PTSD.

John and Arthur share similar pasts, but are unable to get along. What happens when they only have each other after getting separated from the gang? Will they band together or will feelings and anger get in the way?
