4 parts Ongoing MatureSet during the Revolutionary War era, this story intertwines the real-life history of America's first wealthiest man, John Jacob Astor, with a fictional Mohican tale. The protagonist's narrative is woven into the rich cultural traditions and struggles of the Mohican tribe, as well as the early days of Mr. Astor's life. As the fur trade plays a significant role in both worlds, the focus remains on the influence of Mr. Astor and the trials faced by the Mohican people. The main character is a child born to a Mohican woman and potentially her husband or Mr. Astor himself.
The main characters of this story are members of the Iroquois Confederacy/First Nation People, who should be referred to as Haudenosaunee. However, since this term may not be familiar to most people, I have chosen to use the more commonly known terms, Mahicans/Mohawk, to describe them. Their Iroquois Confederacy is named for the most used language, not the people. Please forgive me for these deviations.
Whenever possible, this information is based on historical events and Haudenosaunee culture. Some creative liberties have been taken to fill the missing historical puzzle pieces. My intent is to always be respectful and true to the culture of the Haudenosaunee and the main European settler.
