The More I Try to Forget, the More That I Remember

This is my flight of stairs that I choose to walk on,
So I can at least admit I have tried.
Go on, rub it in my face that you were right,
That the path I chose was the wrong one.
I have ached, and I have hurt.
But I am proud of who I am,
Even though, at times,
I find that hard to believe.
