The Winchester Chime

Familiarity breeds more than contempt.

For both Maggie and Len, marriage this time around was meant to be a calm regrouping; a time to close the door on old mistakes and settle into middle age away from the noise of the past. But both are deluded. Len's eager visions of greatness have become tiresome and Maggie's looking for a way out. A way out of the endless pursuit of profit at the local auction house; a way out of the constant back and forth between Len's epiphanies and bargain buys.

The hens want feeding, the dogs need attention, the dinner won't cook itself and then there's Len, up in his hideaway convincing himself that this time it's the real thing.

Maggie wants out, wants to live her own dreams.
