Balan Wonderworld Goes to Hell
This series is based on Square Enix's biggest failure of 2021. It stars these two kids named Leo Craig and Emma Cole. Leo had an argument with his former best friend five years ago, so he decided, "I don't need friends. They disappoint me." Instead, he fills his time with video games and dance. Emma, while she tries to make friends, constantly worries about the things people might say behind her back. This would be the perfect time for them to be lured into an abandoned theater by a mysterious being named Balan who runs Wonderworld, where those with unbalanced hearts can heal from their trauma. These two are Wonderworld's newest recipients, but Balan has a different form of therapy in mind for them: there are twelve residents who have stayed in Wonderworld for a bit too long, and he wants them to heal their hearts so they can return to the real world, healing themselves in the process. Now, they must use the power of dance and a plethora of useless costumes to save these twelve hearts and also defeat Lance, Balan's angsty older brother who shows up sometimes. Balan Wonderworld: The Show Must Go On! (Season 1)
This series is a spin-off of my Balan Wonderworld adaptation, Balan Wonderworld Goes to Hell and picks up immediately afterwards. Leo Craig and Emma Cole are two ordinary eighth graders who are suddenly best friends after a whirlwind trip to Wonderworld, a magical place where those with unbalanced hearts can go to heal, but we don't have time to unpack all that. These two are ready to get back to their old lives and develop a friendship over their shared love of theatre and video games. However, Balan, Wonderworld's slightly eccentric and highly empathic warden, has decided he wants to start "outpatient therapy," meaning he wants to visit them in their every day lives and try to give them a little coaching.
