"Power; the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others." However, more importantly, it is a never-ending game that is played on the chessboard we have all been forcefully placed on. South Otsher is known for a myriad of names: the city of crime, the sin capital, the missing heart of the red devil, though those names are quite misleading as to what truly happens within the city's borders. A more accurate and fitting name is one that is more chilling for the uninitiated: "The City Where Justice Fails to Touch". Home of the falsely accused, prison of the innocent souls, those whose lives play out in this city might just be the contents of an unsolved mystery in a near future. Amidst the sea of masked faces lies the vivid image of two silhouettes: one with a pistol and the other on his knees. As the crowd simply strolled past the two figures, and as the trigger to the pistol was pulled; not a single head even turned a shoulder. Hell wouldn't be an undeserving title to call this treacherous snake pit, though the fallen angel here doesn't quite share the same name as the lord of the underworld.

The year is 1743 Heather Blackheart had just witnessed the massacre of her family while traveling through the Scottish Highlands. The responsible is no other than the Loch Ness monster, and in order to get help, Heather has to get to Edinburg and the Guardians. The Guardians are responsible for the safety of the Shadowworld, the descendants of dragons and the oddest people Heather has ever met. With her keen sense of what is proper and correct, she don't know what to make of the Guardian's lack of manners, and can't handle miss Victoria Valentine's decision to wear a kilt instead of a floor-long dress. As a matter of fact, she can't handle Victoria at all. Apart from her male dressing, she'd obnoxious, hot-headed and a more than competent fighter - everything a young lady shouldn't, and she's constantly the cause of Heather's embarrassment. She don't know how she's going to survive the journey to Loch Ness in her company Victoria feels quite the same. How are they ever going to be able to slay the monster while dragging a ridiculous city-lady along? She's most likely to get them all killed in one way or the other. Will they reach Loch Ness before the monster kills everyone in the area? Will the people chasing them catch them? Can Victoria and Heather stop fighting long enough to realise they don't actually hate each other? Well, read and find out!
