It was a completely normal mission. Supposed to last for a few days, yes, but a normal mission. A normal mission for which they had to call for backup when everything didn't go according to plan.
Aizawa Shouta was called as a backup for a mission. He was out of the city, getting a gift for his husband when he got an emergency call. A situation nearby was getting out of hand.
When he arrives at the scene a little child he was trying to evacuate manifests their quirk and turns Shouta into a cat. Unfortunately, the kid and their parents both die and it seems that no one knows how the child's quirk works.
As a cat, Shouta stumbles upon two homeless kids, his cat instincts adopting the two kittens on sight.
