After Sirius Black is sentenced to life in Azkaban his husband, Remus Lupin-Black has their twins taken away because he's a werewolf. Harry is sent to live with his uncle and aunt. Remus spends years shattered untill after 8 years he starts a new life. 

Remus gets a muggle job and has cut off almost any contact with the wizarding world. He still sees the Weasleys for Christmas and holidays but otherwise he hasn't had any contact with the wizarding world. Dumbledore has asked Remus to be the DADA since Harry's first year and finally after the third year he accepts. Soon after he hears news of his husband's escape and writes to an old friend, Claire consernd with Voldemort showing up around harry and rumors of a dark lord underground.

Sirius did something that he would never ever ever do, but he did it anyway. He broke Remus and his own heart, and as his world is slowly crumbling around him, he has to pick it all back up again single handed. After pulling "the prank" against Snape in his fifth year, he doesn't realize how much his actions would hurt Remus and he can't stop them until it's much too late to do anything about it. After all, he had his friends at his side, a better family than his bloodrelatives could ever be. It's Harry Potters fifth year and he's depressed. He has to deal with Voldemort's return, being plagued with nightmares about his friend Cedric's murder and being abused at home. That's right. The saviour of the wizarding world is beaten mercilessly by his Uncle and Cousin. His aunt starves him and verbally abuses him. Eventually he couldn't take it and started cutting, taking drugs, getting mindlessly drunk and street fighting illegally with his muggle friends. (They obviously don't know about magic but do know about his home life). This is set from the summer before fifth year onwards. Let's see if his friends can save him before he's too far gone.

She was tired, she was so bloody tired of it all. From the constant nagging and picking and pulling to the waking up at 6 am everyday to do that stupid crap. She didn't think it was stupid really, she just didn't like having to do it. She didn't really like having to do schoolwork either, but she found herself to be fond of the teachers and the curriculums. Most of all though, she didn't mind being at school all too much because it kept her away from the house. She found James to be nice, and Sirius to be troublesome, Peter was quite thoughtful, but Remus, he was kind to her. She had found that Remus was her favorite of them all, he was really very kind to her. What she had really come to see though, was the fact that he had scars too, and that meant they matched. Mature content. There are certain parts of this story that I will put a trigger warning before but you should keep cautioun when reading because I mention a lot of triggering things and topics in this book including self harm, abuse, mental illnesses etc. Also, the first year is really shitty writing and like the first part of fourth but I swear it gets so much better. I just haven't gotten around to editing the bad bits yet :( Credit to J.K. Rowling for the characters and parts of the plot and obviously Hogwarts fandom and Everything Harry Potter related. But, credit to J.K. Rowling. I mean- for everything other than my plots and characters too so.
