"I'm an asshole, trust me"- that strange half-smile illuminated Luke's face. The one he sometimes puts on when he doesn't want to be too serious.
"Compared to some assholes I've met, you are a literal puppy, trust ME" - I pulled a wry face, completely convinced he is joking.
Luke inhaled his cigarette smoke while never taking his eyes off of me, complete silence disturbed only by a thin line of smoke coming from in between his lips.
I took a swig of coffee.
"I'm not joking"
"We'll see"- I couldn't believe a god damned word he said.
"We'll see"- all that was left for us was to shake on it.

It's the first day of June's senior year and everything is already going wrong. Instead of falling into a deep dark pit of self pity (however tempting that may sound), all of this betrayal ends up leading her to the best friends she's ever had and the most exciting school year of her life.
