In the days leading to their sixteenth birthdays, Patroclus is determined to rewrite Achilles' poem of life, to add himself into it forever as lovers.

"A secret for our own," He whispered as if us lying here in each other's arms was not secret enough. I nodded. My heart felt fluttery in my throat as he pressed another kiss, down further, pressed under my jaw.
What a wonderful thing, I found, to be enthralled in a life so much. To be beloved by your beloved. How remarkable it was that we laid here now, beneath the soft thrum of ripening olives, in this moment. How wonderful we found each other in this world. How so I loved Achilles.

Shannon Dugray and Quincey Mason are like cat and dog. However, there may be something more behind their constant arguing. Shannon has sworn she would never admit it, as he belongs to her best friend, Tiffany, a fact that everyone in their school is aware of. Choosing friendship over love, she decides to focus her attention on Orson, the new student. But, no matter how hard she tries, the only one she is drawn to is the rough, annoying, yet irresistible, Quincey Mason. However, after witnessing Tiffany betray her, Shannon realizes that her dear friend was not worth the sacrfice. Her heart breaks because for Tiffany, she uselessly insulted and pushed away her true love. Can she still turn back to Quincey or is the bridge that once connected the imperfectly perfect couple destroyed forever? _________ BLURB: Lying on the grass, one leg straight, the other folded. Quincey was covering his eyes with his arm. I came closer to him, not as scared as I thought I was going to be because he looked calm, approachable. I crouched next to him and watched as he breathed peacefully. At first I wanted to just leave his phone next to him and go, but it could get stolen if he didn't notice it was there. The best thing to do was to simply give it to him. After boosting myself for a little while, I poked him lightly with my index finger. "Hmm," he growled without moving an inch. "Do I look like someone who wants to be disturbed?" His voice was harsh, almost mean. My heart pounded as I felt my throat squeeze. "Oh...," I whimpered sounding like a crying seal. He removed his arm from his eyes, and looked at me like I was some kind of specter, the last person he expected to see. "Shannon?" Quincey furrowed his brows in disbelief. He sat up so quickly I flinched. I immediately stood up, my legs itching to escape, forgetting why I came to begin with. "Wait," I felt his palm graze my fingers failing to grab me before I ran off. When I was born no one thought much of me. A daughter who happened to come along with a son, like a thorn who comes along with a rose, like rotten fruits who happen to come along with the ripe ones every year during the harvest. They at first thought that the fates not mentioning me in the prophecy concerning my brother was simply a sign of my unimportance. They even choose my name so it could fit his, not the other way around. What if the best of the Greeks were two people? What if Achilles had a twin sister just as skilled in warfare as him? Hello everyone! It's me @Erlina_LS, I unfortunately lost access to my original account so I will continue the story here. Some passages in the early chapters are not owned my me, they were written by Madeline Miller so credits to her. #9 on thesongofachilles on 12/6/2024 #4 on tsoa on 5/12/2025 #5 on thesongofachilles on 5/12/2025 #2 on Theiliad on 19/5/2025 #4 on greekmythologyretelling on 6/7/2025 #3 on greekmythologyretelling on 6/26/2025
