Due to a prophecy Zen Jade's who is a highly respected spiritual leaders 25 children would become Anasia's lost royal leader and savior and correct the spiritual ways of their world. According to the prophecy they will have a special power and be loved and adored by all, once the last one dies their child must prove this power in order to be considered the leader. When everyone assumes its Zens beloved daughter Irene the other children are neglected and some sent away if they were of no use to protect the family's name. When Zen dies It becomes clear that Irene was not the chosen ruler and among her siblings who were not banished none were the prophecy chosen ruler also. When it becomes clear that its her little sister Lana she becomes enraged and covers it up by marrying her little sister off by force and sending her away for being unuseful unaware of Lanas dangerous power.
