Emma-Lou has grown up in a group home since she was little. Although she had it good compared to other kids that had been through the group home, she doesn't trust easily.
When she gets adopted by Taylor Swift all of a sudden, it takes her a while to even talk to her, but she learns to trust Taylor eventually.
Once she's over that hurdle, though, she realizes that there's more to deal with than just learning to trust her new family.
