Hans Brendel is a new pilot to the German air force . Immediately Hans is put into the cockpit of a fighter and is fighting in the Eastern Front,being part of squadron JG 52, protecting the German bombers from enemy Russian fighters and flak. When Hans fighter gets shot down deep in Soviet territory after a failed bombing mission, he and his other pilots must survive the cold and the Soviets as he tries to make it back to Germany at least out alive.
