When The Americans won WW2 The Japanese commanded the remaining shipgirls to scuttle  themselves which they didn't do instead they went into hiding including Haruna 

After many years Haruna missed everyone she cared and wished that someone could revive them and then an mysterious man came and offered an deal to Haruna which she accepts and every shipgirl that was sunk by the Japanese had been revived and live happily

Until Quicks came into the world making them isolate themselves from them due to the humans fearing the people who had quicks and then Haruna suddenly crossed paths with the most Powerful villain and accidentally engages it into an battle

Hornet waited and waited until she found out her countries downfall, she fell into despair as she thinks both of her sister's were already dead she didn't even get an chance to know and meet them, that all changed until an Woman wearing an Black Coat and hat gave her a chance for a reason to live (I don't own Azur lane It belongs to it's rightful owner and what's only mine here was the Watcher Force and the plot) (And I might borrow some characters from The Man Of the High Castle)
