It's been nearly eleven years since the death of L.
Five years since Light Yagami, more commonly known as Kira, was put to justice.
And two since the "Cheap Kira" was brought to his attention.

Near, now a twenty-three year old young man, has claimed his rightful title as L. Solving those cases he finds interesting, he spends his days building tarot card towers and making insightful observations about his chosen "mysteries". However, truth be told, he is growing bored.

Then a new danger arises.

Somebody has gained possession of a Death Note-that much is obvious. But this new Kira is nothing like he has ever seen before. The murders are brutal, bloody, and made to be agonizingly painful- and, worst of all, the killer doesn't seem to mind who the victims are. This time a notebook has fallen into the hands of a brilliant sadist whose only goal seems to be to drown the world in the blood of the innocent.

The young man knows that he can't defeat this new enemy on his own. The previous L's death and his short partnership with Mello have proved that much. But now... Who can Near trust in this dawning of the shadows?

18 parts Complete
Is everything that we do our fate ? Or is it our choices ? What are bonds ? How deep do they go ? It may seem like everything that we do is our fate, but it is not. It is our choices that determine our fate. Bonds are deep connections between people. They go beyond your current life, they are renewed in every life, even stronger than it was before. Almost like soulmates, isn't it ? Well, in the case of Light Yagami and L. Lawliet, it is indeed the case. Light and L are reincarnated, with different names but the same physical looks and lifestyles. Both are in their early twenties and joined the Metropolitan Police Department some years back. Now they are promoted to detective and work under Kana Yagami, Light's twin sister, in the homicide division. A prominent businessman, Alexander Kennedy, dies, apparently a suicide. The duo visit the crime scene of their very first case and quickly realize that something was off. He had no reason to suicide. Their simple case quickly turns deadly as the death note resurfaces and the deepest, darkest secrets of the world's most powerful countries are exposed, forcing Kana to turn to an old associate, Near, for help. As Near and Kana dig up the past, memories surface, causing tension between the two detectives who are steadily falling for each other. Will they be able to push aside their past and move on ? Will they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other ? Who is the new owner of the deathnote ? What are their motives ? Will they get drunk on its power like Kira before them? Updates every Wednesday or weekend. I do not own Death Note or any characters. I only own my OC, Kana Yagami and the plot.

"A Death Note? Nice. Who'd be stupid enough to leave this lying around? I mean, it obviously wasn't real, but if I had a notebook like that, I'd be kind of protective of it, not leaving it in a random place like this. A drop of water landed on the cover. I looked up, noticing that dark clouds were rolling across the sky. Ugh. Better call my brother Teru for a ride. I glanced back at the notebook. Sorry to whoever this belonged to. It was mine now! As I picked it up, the world blurred slightly. The notebook flashed white-hot, burning my hand, but I couldn't let go of it. A sensation like I was falling came over me, and I blacked out."
