I find my breath getting stuck in my throat as I stare up at him, his eyes so full of love and yearning. I don't think anyone has ever looked at me like that, like I was everything.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: pretty much all of this story is from Gale's perspective. and it doesn't have a Gale x Katniss relationship, just friendship. I think that the end of Gale's story was unfulfilling. Also, my version of Gale in this book is depressed and kinda has ptsd. and lastly it gets pretty dark so you've been warned.Complete

The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three. This is my first fan fiction, my first "real" attempt at long form prose writing, and my first Wattpad story. I appreciate constructive feedback, but please, no hate. While the characters and some plot points are based off of Suzanne Collins's Hunger Games Trilogy, (which I in no way own the rights to) I have created this story using my own imagination. Nova, a girl on 12 and Raze, a boy on 18, is the unlucky ones being reaped, and they get Haymitch, Katniss and Peeta as their mentors. Can these three mentors safe one of the kids? Raze is a quick, strong boy from the mines. He quickly shows himself just as skilled in combat as the Careers. Nova is completely different. She is little and weak, and used most of her time at home dancing, studying or reading. She is a smart girl, who knows how to survive, as long as no one will try to kill her. While the kids are in the Quell fighting for their lives, Katniss and Peeta is spending a lot of time together. Not only do they have the kids in the Quell to look after, but also the wedding.
