This story is based off of the Conan Gray (lyrical MASTERPIECE) Little League
...and it is A Byler fic
I got motivation to write from @Bylerlolm so check out their fanfic Just the Two of us, which is also Byler!
Not that tough to figure out though seeing as their username literally starts with it
(Also it's in the title but let's forget about that small detail)
This takes place in 1985, AKA throughout season threes timeline. However, there will be no Russian spies or rat/human carcass monsters. Just classic relationship drama and character development.

MY AU: Will Byers is now living his life in California with his mom, Joyce, brother, Jonathan, and now sister, Eleven (El/Jane). Will is experiencing trauma and nightmares of his time in the upside down, and everything that followed it, while also balancing school and bullies... He's having trouble sleeping and is still mad at Mike for their argument, for which he never apologized. Will can't stand this, and it gets worse when a strong monster from the upside down named "Vecna" tries to kill him, leaving Will relying on music as his only hope. Will feels alone and like a mistake out in this world. He's mad at Mike, but also loves him, he feels like a freak, a weirdo. And what happens if El finds out? She's gonna be mad, hell maybe she'll even try to kill him! Will tries to survive life, and his hallucinations/nightmares. What happens when Will has to risk his life? Does he live or die? A collection of different Byler stories I've created. All are posted as separate fics on my AO3 Account (Blingyu) but I thought it'd be nice to post them here as well. There are 9 separate stories all ranging from 3.8K words - 10.4K words Basic Summaries: 1. A story of Mike discovering that Will is his person and what that means for his sexuality 2. Will thinks Mike has a crush on a girl only to realize a bit too late that they were already on a date 3. The same story as number 2, only from Mike's perspective instead (with some different scenes) 4. Mike knew what Will was saying with the painting in the van scene. When Will tells him he's the heart in reference to El, he thinks he might've been wrong. 5. Will accidentally starts flirting with Mike because he likes seeing him blush. Will doesn't fully realize the implications of that. 6. When Mike is confronted with the fact that Will hasn't had his first kiss he stupidly steps up to offer it to him. 7. Will tends to zone out around Mike, especially when it comes to the topic of dating. He realizes he missed an important discussion about that a little too late. 8. Byler celebrating 4 Christmases from the years of 1984 to 1987, starting as friends and growing into something more. 9. When Mike finds out Lucas is bisexual it helps him gain courage in coming out to him and telling Lucas about his feelings for Will. Lucas decides to help Mike get them together.Complete
