My name is Alice Coltrane, and on my fourteenth birthday I grew wings. There were some things in me that clicked then:
1) Regular fourteen year olds don't sprout wings.
2) Humans don't sprout wings.
3) Therefore, I wasn't human.
That fateful day, I find the truth that have been hidden for years displayed right in front of my eyes. How did I feel then? How would YOU feel then? Betrayed? Angry? Hurt, maybe? It must be a shock for some, but surprisingly, I felt calm. Honestly, I was more worried about the fact that I would be taken away from my dad. You see, after the change it was him who suggested I transfer to an academy for people, or angels, such as myself. It was a flat out no for me, but of course, he won in the end. So far, everything was relatively normal. . .if you didn't add a monstrosity of a mother, a rescue group full of angels, and an evil mastermind's minions.

I've made it out of that nightmare I used to call home. The last person my parents had entrusted with my safety was a lie. The man I was being married off too turned out to be a ruthless monster.
