Tears spilt from my hazel - green eyes as a stood alone at the headstone of my parents' graves. Today is the one - year anniversary of their passing and I was one of three who remembered the tragic event. Looking at my watch I let out a sigh and chastised myself, " It's been three hours that you've been standing here, Ashlynne. Staring at their graves won't bring them back, unfortunately". I closed my eyes and breathed in deeply, trying to remember that I am alive and, however pitiful I make out life to be, I do still have a life to live. Taking one last, longing look, I slowly turned around to head towards my dilapidated pick - up truck. My truck is a little rusty on the outside, and some of the black paint is chipping off, but it runs surprisingly well. Reaching my truck I paused briefly to look back at their graves. "Goodbye, Mom and Dad". I whispered to the heavens. "I miss you and I promise I won't forget you".All Rights Reserved
